What it actually does

Automatic detection

The phone notices a drive starting and measures it without the app being open. Android holds a foreground service; iPhone uses Core Motion and Core Location. Every detected trip is offered for you to confirm, never saved as finished on its own.

Track it yourself

Press start and watch the route draw on the map. A recording interrupted by the phone restarting is offered back rather than lost.

Or just type it

From, to, distance, done. Addresses are looked up by the phone's own geocoder first.

Work or private, suggested

Based on the places you have taught it — home, the depot, job sites, suppliers — with the reason written out. Correct it once and it remembers that pattern.

Receipt scanning

Text recognition runs on the phone. The photo is cropped to the paper and the lighting evened out before it is read, and both versions are tried so the clean-up can never leave you worse off.

Figures that are checked

A total is marked as confirmed only when the receipt's own arithmetic agrees with it — the GST being an eleventh of it, or the items adding up. Anything guessed at is labelled as a guess.

Twenty categories

Tools, PPE, materials, vehicle running costs, licences, phone, training, insurance, subscriptions and the rest — with GST and a work-use percentage on each.

The odometer chain

Read the dash once. Every odometer figure after that is worked out from that reading plus the measured distance of each trip — nothing to write down at the start and end of a drive.

Checked, not assumed

The next time you read the dash, the app compares it against what it had worked out. The two agreeing is independent corroboration. Where they disagree, the difference is reported as kilometres driven and not recorded.

Fuel priced from real fill-ups

Put the litres on a fuel expense and the app works out what you actually paid per litre, then keeps the vehicle's running-cost estimate on a running average of your recent fill-ups.

Rego, service and your own checks

Due dates with reminders, plus any recurring check you want watched.

Cents per km

The rate per income year, with a notice when a vehicle passes the 5,000 km cap — stated as a fact, not as advice about what to do next.

The 12-week logbook

An odometer reading at each end of a continuous 12-week period, the business-use percentage it produces, and how long it stays valid.

The annual report

PDF or HTML, with receipt photographs embedded, a trip ledger, the expense breakdown, the logbook table and the odometer's own account of the year. CSV too, for a spreadsheet.
